I was threatened with a sanction on housing help and basic UC, this came as a huge threat as it could have meant more debt for myself and the children. I don't have the full amount that I need in the first instant because the government takes away my student loan money, as they say it is income, however this is just another example of the government breaking the law. A loan is not income, and it shouldn't be taken off me, this means that I am unable to afford my uni books, when I was on the phone to a member of the DWP they said to me "Perhaps you should consider if doing a degree is worth it and maybe you are better off on benefits, doing a degree and them taking the money off me is the price I pay for being a 'benefit mum'"
I have 3 young children and studying a Law Degree. This claim was on the basis of hearsay, part of a campaign of vicious trolling that I was receiving at the time, the claim I was making lots on money out of writing, when I haven't made a penny. This threatened me hugely and made me question my free will to be able to express through spoken word and writing and if a hobby is something that the government should know about? I will leave that question with you.
